Laakhaven is an area in The Hague that borders with the city centre. It’s located between the railroad line and the water. Its harbour and industrial area is full of character. In the course of the 20th century Laakhaven developed into the most important industrial area of The Hague. Because of its favourable location, Laakhaven grew into one of the largest inland harbours of the Netherlands. This documentary was commissioned by the Municipality of The Hague. Our local resident Koos Havelaar was in charge of the research for this documentary. Together with his wife Jannie and other members of The Hague Industrial Heritage Foundation (SHIE) he regularly organises walks through Laakhaven as well as other places.
