When initiator Angela van der Woude became a mother of a son with Down syndrome in 2014, she felt the need for a documentary that would portray a realistic picture of family life with a child with Down syndrome.

 

This documentary is now available online after an amazing premiere at the Laaktheater on Friday, 22nd of March (2019). In the documentary three families talk about their initial reaction upon hearing the diagnosis of their child. They talk about acceptance, siblings and about getting started.

 

You will get to know Johan, Esther and Lorelei who we visited during their vacation! You will be introduced to Erica, Geert, Milan and Maud who we filmed during their visit to the beach on a beautiful day in February. And you will also get to know Sumeye, Ferman, Ilias, Berkay, Baran, Elif and Fadime at their family home during dinner.

 

All three family’s show us what family life is like living with a child with Down syndrome.
